Capitol Records Presents Ak' Sent

Shelia Goss: Do you think growing up in the hood of LA helped develop you as an
artist? If so, are you taking those experiences and rapping about them?
Ak’Sent:
Yes I'm writing about every experience that I've had. I feel like my
life is a Cinderella story. It was one thing for me to have dreams but to
actually make them happen is something I still can't believe and that's
what I want people to know the most about me.

Shelia: Being a female rapper you have to have a certain level of confidence
to succeed in a male dominated genre. How do you plan on making your
niche as a female rapper?
Ak’Sent:
I'm a soldier and I have everything that it takes to do what ever I want
to do and how far I plan on taking my self is up to me in this industry.
You have to show and prove to make a mark for yourself and that's what I'm
going to do. Work hard and stay focused

Shelia: If you had to compare yourself with another female rapper, who would
you say your style is similar to?
Ak’Sent:
I don't like comparing myself to anyone. I feel like every female rapper
that has come out made their impact on the world; now it’s time for me to.

Shelia: When someone picks up your CD "International" what should they expect
to hear?
Ak’Sent:
Everyone who goes out to get International should expect a fresh
sounding album. All my songs show who I am and how I was feeling at that
very point. It’s exciting. I'm speaking out to my generation, my peers and my
people and it’s a real serious situation so I hope they listen to it with
open minds.

Shelia: What's been one of the hardest obstacles you've faced thus far?
Ak’Sent:
The hardest obstacle I've dealt with so far is really just dealing with
people who have no idea of who I am and what I'm about. I'm not out here
trying to be any other artist that's out or anyone I'm not. But it all has
to do with being a new artist. You got to show and prove yourself and
that's what I plan on doing.

Shelia: If you weren't rapping, what would you be doing?
Ak’Sent:
I probably would be going to college to be a teacher for young
children because I have a lot of brothers and sisters so I got the patience
for it. That's a goal I want to accomplish in the near future; but
when the time is right

Shelia: How has the support from your family and friends been?
Ak’Sent:
They’re all so happy and excited and most of all very supportive. There's
still a big adjustment to be made, but they’re cool.

Shelia: Describe your personality in 3 words or less.
Ak’Sent:
Suave, funny, crazy
